Celebrate Holidays 2025 in Los Cabos: Sand, Sun & Beach

Los Cabos is the ultimate destination to spend the Holidays 2025.  Whether you’re planning to get in touch with nature and outdoor activities, or doing something that involves more adventure and adrenaline. Or if your plan is simply to do nothing and enjoy the beach with its sunsets, Los Cabos has everything you need.

As you may know, Los Cabos is located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, making it relatively easy to arrive if you’re coming from California or any other nearby destination. In less than 3 hours, you’ll be arriving at a paradise surrounded by mountains, where you’ll feel summer while it is winter.

It is a region where we enjoy 350 days of sun and hot weather; it actually only rains during hurricane season, which takes place from May through September. Essentially, you can enjoy delightful weather throughout the year.

Where to stay

Los Cabos is a destination that combines the luxurious way of life in accommodations such as hotels, resorts, or private villas. Alternatively, you can also find something more sustainable and affordable, such as glamping, which offers all the fun of camping without sacrificing the facilities of a real hotel, while still providing direct contact with nature.

There are also a couple of wellness retreats that incorporate sound healing sessions, sunrise yoga, meditation sessions, and spa services, allowing you to mix fun with relaxation during your holidays. If you are more interested in discovering this kind of wellness, consider visiting places like Amet Nature Retreat, Rukshanas Wellness Retreat, or Nest Baja, located on the East Cape, for a more natural simplicity.

But of course, if you’re looking to experience the whole idea of camping, there are a few businesses that rent you a van with all the necessary equipment that you may need for camping in front of the ocean. They also share a couple of itineraries and ideas on where to park to have this fantastic experience. They also include some add-ons, such as a kayak or paddleboard, snorkelling equipment, and even some items for cooking.

Imagine waking up in a new year in front of the sea? Sounds fantastic to me! Here are 2 options where you can rent this type of adventure. Van Baja or Sampa Explore.

What to eat

Los Cabos is also a paradise for foodies, offering a diverse range of culinary specialties, including Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and Mediterranean cuisine. All of them feature the touch of the Baja style, adding a fresh touch to their products. Additionally, many restaurants work with local products, which is a way of supporting the local community.

Since 2024, Los Cabos has been included in the Michelin Guide, and a few restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars, including Cocina de Autor at the Grand Velas Los Cabos hotel. However, suppose you’re more interested in sustainable cuisine. In that case, there are also two restaurants that have been chosen as part of the Michelin Green Star, which recognizes & highlights restaurants that are leaders in sustainable gastronomy. They also make efforts with the local community & their products.

These two restaurants are both located in San José del Cabo. ACRE & Flora’s Field Kitchen are renowned for their farm-to-table approach.

And if you have more time, you will definitely need to experience more restaurants, as 17 of them are also recognized by the Michelin Guide. They are primarily located in Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo. Still, there are also a few in the Todos Santos and Pescadero area, which is approximately a 40-minute drive from downtown Cabo San Lucas. It could easily be a day trip, where you can enjoy the beauty and charm of this magical town.

Another way to invite you to discover Los Cabos for your 2025 holidays is that it was recognized by The New York Times as the only destination in Mexico to be featured in the “Places to Go in 2025” list. This showcases their unique mix of luxury, adventure, and wellness.

Can you swim in the Ocean during December?

Fantastic weather is another reason for you and your family to visit Los Cabos during the holidays in 2025. The temperature can be lower during mornings and evenings, but a light jacket is usually sufficient, and the cold shouldn’t be a problem.

The average temperature during winter, from December to February, is not lower than 57 to 61 °F (ca. 16 °C), and during the daytime, it ranges from 75 to 81 °F (ca. 27 °C).

Also, you may be wondering if it is possible to swim in the ocean, and the answer is YES! All the water activities are up and running; the sea temperature is around 71-73°F. It might feel a little colder at the beginning, but once you start swimming, you completely forget about it. And you don’t have to worry about any dangerous animals, such as jellyfish, as they usually appear after a storm.

Cold water is good for the body & health, it keeps your circulation running, so, at the same time that you’re having fun, you are taking care of your body, so it’s a double win.

But remember, every time you come into contact with the ocean, you need to be respectful of it, meaning do not take any shells or grab coral reefs with you. If you visit the beach, be sure to bring your garbage with you when you finish enjoying your day there.

And always keep applying sunscreen, as it may be winter time, but out there, it feels like summer all year long.

Some activities you can enjoy while holidaying with family or friends during Holidays 2025 include taking a boat or going sailing in Cabo San Lucas Bay, where you will definitely enjoy beautiful views of the marina. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landmark of Los Cabos, The Arch, also known as Land’s End.

Most of the water tours in the morning include snorkelling and paddleboarding, but if you choose the sunset tour, it will just be full of beautiful views of the sunset and the bay.  Depending on the tide, the tour may also take you to the Pacific side. During wintertime, you can also experience whale watching tours, as the season starts in November and finishes in April.

Imagine that you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy seeing whales jumping around while appreciating the beautiful sunset with your loved ones.

There are a couple of resorts that offer beach activities, which may include sunrise paddleboarding or kayaking. So, if you’re an early riser who loves adrenaline and also appreciates staying in contact with nature, it is highly recommended to engage in this kind of activity; it’s a lovely way to start your morning.

Cabo at night

Another activity highly recommended is exploring San José del Cabo by night; you’ll be delighted by its culinary and artistic offerings. On Thursdays, they hold the famous and well-recognized Art Walk, which is the perfect backdrop for exploring local art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and open-air exhibitions. It is open to the public every Thursday from 5 pm. It is a great way to experience the heart of San José del Cabo.
